The US Department of State officially appointed certain criminal groups as foreign terrorist organizations. The list is among others the Aragua Train, La Mara Salvatrucha and the Sinaloa Cartel.
The US government formalized the designation of the Aragua Train, La Mara Salvatrucha, the Sinaloa Cartel, the Jalisco Nueva GeneraciĆ³n cartel, the United Cartels, the Northeast Cartel, Gulf Cartel and the new Michoacan family, as foreign terrorist organizations.
The designation will enter into force this Thursday, February 20, when it will be published in the Federal Registry, in accordance with the document signed by the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
As part of the arguments, Rubio pointed out that this decision was made based “on a review of the administrative records gathered in this matter, and in consultation with the Attorney General and the Secretary of the Treasury.”
The issue is key to the current US government. US President Donald Trump signed on the day of his inauguration an executive order in order to designate these Organizations as terrorists.
“The cartels have undertaken a campaign of violence and terror throughout the Western hemisphere that has not only destabilized countries of great importance for our national interests, but has also flooded the United States of lethal drugs, violent criminals and ruthless bands,” , indicated the decree signed by Trump on January 20.
After assuming the position, Trump also ordered high -ranking officials to take measures to prepare to invoke a law of 1798 in times of war that could allow him to deport alleged gang members without judicial audiences.
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, said last Friday that her country could expand a lawsuit against US armriers if the government declared Mexican organized crime organizations as terrorists.
“Mexico has an international demand against arms manufacturers and weapons distributors in the United States, if they came to decree organized crime groups as terrorists, since we would have to expand the demand in the United States because then, as the department of the department itself acknowledged Justice that 74 % of the weapons of criminal groups come from the United States, because how are the shipowners and distributors in front of the decree? “He said.
El Salvador in February accepted Receive criminals Deported from the United States, regardless of their nationality, to comply with sentences in their prisons. According to the announcement, the measure also includes members of the MS-13 and Aragua train.
The US government determines that after a designation as a terrorist organization, it is illegal for a person in the US to provide support or resources to any of these organizations.
The representatives or members of these organizations are also considered “inadmissible” and “expeliable” from the United States.
