Trump wants rare Ukraine metals in exchange for support

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, suggested that he has received information that the Ukrainian government is willing to reach an agreement to give the North American country access to the critical elements for the modern high -tech economy.

President Donald Trump indicated on Monday that he wishes to reach an agreement with Ukraine to obtain access to rare metals in the country in exchange for US support.

Talking to journalists at the Oval office, Trump complained that the United States had sent more military and economic aid to Ukraine than its European partners, and added: “We are looking to make a deal with Ukraine where they will ensure what we are giving them with their rare earth and other things. ”

Trump suggested that he has received information that the Ukrainian government is willing to reach an agreement to give the United States access to the critical elements for the modern high -tech economy.

“I want to have the security of rare earths,” Trump added. “We are investing hundreds of billions of dollars. They have excellent rare earths. And I want the safety of rare earths, and they are willing to do it. ”

Trump, who had previously said that he would quickly end the war, mentioned that conversations are ongoing to end the conflict.

“We have advanced a lot in Russia, Ukraine,” Trump said. “We will see what happens. We will put an end to that ridiculous war. ”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Associated Press on Saturday that any negotiation between the United States and Russia without his country was unacceptable.

“They can have their own relationships, but talking about Ukraine without us is dangerous for all,” Zelenskyy insisted.

He added that his team has been in contact with the Trump administration, but those discussions are in a “general level” and believes that meetings will soon be held to develop more detailed agreements.

“We need to work more on this,” Zelenskyy said.
