The president of the United States, Donald Trump, plans to create a special residence card for foreigners who create jobs in the United States.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said Tuesday that he wants to start selling “Gold Cards” for 5 million dollars to foreigners who want to move to the United States and create jobs.
Trump said the immigration program, which said it was legal, could start in about two weeks. He added that it is possible that Russian oligarchs can opt for the “Gold Cards.”
“We are going to sell a Gold Card. We are going to put a price on that card … and it will be how to grant a green card with privileges “
The green card is known as the identification of a US resident.
Trump's Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, said: “We are going to end the EB-5 program and we will replace it with the Trump Gold Card.”
The EB-5 program was created by Congress in 1990 to stimulate the US economy with the creation of employment and capital investments of foreigners.
Trump said that “the Gold Card will bring people to create jobs … I think companies will pay to get it … It is a gold card, something like the green card … is a path to citizenship.”
Lutnick said that other countries do, “like our state 51”, in reference to Canada.
According to Trump, money would be used to amortize the debt and that Congress was not necessary for approval because it is not citizenship.
He added that he would announce the gold cards next week.
