The secret service shoots a man near the White House

A police tape can be seen in the place of a shooting that occurred during the night near the White House complex, after the secret service reported that they shot a man who brandished a firearm in Washington, on March 9, 2025.

Secret service agents fired a suspect who brandished a weapon near the White House complex. The person, still to be identified, was transferred to a hospital.

The Washington Police investigates Sunday's shooting, when US secret service personnel fired a man near the White House.

A secret service spokesman said that one day before the shooting, the police had shared information about “a suicidal individual” who could have been traveling to Washington from the state of Indiana.

The secret service personnel saw the person's car near the White House and someone who coincided with the description of the person walking around the area.

The spokesman said that the person soft a firearm when the agents approached, and that the secret service personnel shot during “an armed confrontation.”

The authorities have not identified the person who was transferred to a local hospital after receiving the shot.

No member of the Secret Service was injured, the agency said.

President Donald Trump was in Florida at the time of shooting.
