David Corenswet offers a debut as a lovable human superhero, which often draws spectacular crash landings.
You can already see how great this man is from the fact that he keeps changing his face. Only James Bond and Doctor Who can do it more often. According to Christopher Reeves and Henry Cavill (and a few colleagues from the series industry), the previously rather unknown David Corenswet (“Pearl”, “Twister”) gives his heroic debut cultural figure.

Gunn lets Superman crash
James Gunn is redesigning the DC universe with “Superman” and at the same time presents the first feature film by DC Studios (until October 2022 everything was still under the DC Films brand). This debut is really bombastically but at the same time very humanly and proves that the Marvel party was justified because not only the Guardians of the Galaxy lie, but also belongs to the man from steel.
It all starts with a scene that Superman shows from an unexpected side: The hero puts on a crash landing in the eternal ice of the Antarctic and is helpless in his own blood. Fortunately, there is the hyperactive super dog Krpyto, which reacts to whistle, bends into the cape of his master and drags the seriously injured in the fortress of loneliness, where robot aid is waiting. Of course we now want to know how it could get and the film immediately at the fishing rod.

Super villain vs. Justice Gang
Who is the villain here? Since we are in the Superman world, we just have to look for a hairless man and actually Nicholas Hoult immediately appears with his first-class Lex luthor bald. The Oberfiesling declares Superman as dangerous alien and has set itself the task of finally switching it off. Which selfish motifs hide behind this mission is of course unveiled in the course of the film. (Only one thing is revealed: there are strong political entanglements.)
As Luthor's henchman in the fight against Superman, a mysterious masked figure serves with giant forces, whose face can only be seen relatively late (surprise guaranteed!), And a woman named Angela Spica Aka. The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), who can change her body thanks to nanotechnology at any form.
But Superman does not have to get through alone either: On his side, the so -called Justice Gang with Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Teriffic (Edi Gathegi) and a rather underexposed Green Lantern who looks like Robert Palfrader has caught the role (in truth, however, it is Nathan Fillion).

Fatal message from the parents
Kal-Els aka. Clark Kent's history of origin is actually assumed to be known, but his biological parents still play an important role – in the form of a holographic message that has not yet been completely played. This restored part contains a few sentences that Superman will fall into a deep crisis. Fortunately, there is also its down -to -earth foster parents from rural America, on the good -heartedness of which the wrinkled can raise again. He also receives mental support from a completely different kind from reporter Lois Lane (and Rachel Brosahnhan actually harmonizes with Corenswet in front of the camera).
This superman goes to the ground surprisingly often and bears many injuries – which fits the concept too well to underline its humanity; Although one could get jealous on your superhuman healing powers. When he then faces Luther for the last confrontation, he reacts to his “alien” hatred with a monologue that is almost worthy of Shakespeare (probably also served Shylock's monologue of revenge from “The Merchant of Venice” as a suggestion).

Superman saves everyone and everyone
Nobody would doubt Superman's friendliness. For him, every living being counts equally, regardless of whether it is a person who threatens to be crushed under the foot of a digorating giant or a squirrel that hovers in a similar danger. Superman saves them all by flying – and Gunn has taken care that his hero's hair flutters really wildly at high flight speed. However, the remaining special effects are even more spectacular and how it is part of a real Superman film is really a break: high-rise buildings over the same way, portals to dark dimensions open up and dignify opponents super stalks that would tear their heads off their shoulders immediately-the steel, of course, is slightly away (but then the contact with crypton is passes away but pretty lame).
James Gunn's reinterpretation of the DC hero is anything but lame. He finally lets Superman start again with great warmth at the turbo speed and hopefully take off for several other adventures. But the biggest surprise is that the title hero sees itself as a real punk rocker, on which even Iggy Pop should be proud.
