A dozen people were taken to the hospital with minor wounds after the engine fire an American Airlines plane at Denver International Airport, which reported that all passengers were evacuated safely.
A plane from the American company American Airlines caught fire on Thursday at the Denver International Airport, Colorado, which caused the evacuation of passengers, some of them with minor injuries.
“The emergency teams responded to an air incident this afternoon at the C38 door. All passengers were evacuated healthy and saved from the plane,” the airport said in X.
According to communication, some twelve people were transferred to local hospitals with minor injuries.
Shortly after, the airport added that its operations were maintained normally and that the firefighters had extinguished the fire.
The 1006 flight, which left the Springs Colorado Airport with 127 passengers and six crew members destination to Dallas Fort Worth, diverted to Denver and landed around 5:15 in the afternoon, local time, after the crew reported vibrations in the engine, according to a statement from the Federal Administration of Aviation of the United States (FAA).
One of the Boeing 737-800 engines caught fire to the track, FAA reported, which will investigate the incident.
Several photographs and videos on social networks show how passengers got on one of the wings of the plane, surrounded by smoke.
American Airlines pointed out that the flight experienced a problem related to an engine after heading towards the boarding door.
“We thank our crew members, the Denver team and emergency personnel for their decisive actions, with everyone's security on board and on land,” said the airline.
In recent months, a series of aerial disasters and incidents in the US have fueled the fears of air trips, which, according to experts, remain an extremely safe mode of transport.
Among the most recent land incidents, a plane that crashed and overturned after landing in Toronto and an aircraft from Japan Airlines that made contact with a parked Delta plane while heading towards a boarding door at the Seattle airport.
