The two even come into contact with the Austrian secret service and experience a crazy adventure above and below water.
These two have done it again! For years we assumed that Paul Pizzera and Otto Jaus earned their living through music and cabaret, but since “Pulled Pork” we know that they also want to make a name for themselves as actors. Two years later they return with “Neo Nuggets” in their roles as Flo Kienzl and Eddi Kovac and once again use every opportunity to show what cool buddies they are. Apart from the countless “Oida” and “Oasch” – they always have a cool saying on their lips, even if they get a good punch in the nose for it.

Diving in Lake Toplitz
The first part ended with a real cliffhanger: Suddenly the “sister” Samira (Gizem Emre), who was believed to be dead, stood in front of them again and pointed a gun at them. This is exactly where the current story continues. In the interrogation with police officer Alice (Silvia Schneider), who is also Flo's new flame, the two battered main characters explain the incredible experiences that happened to them this time. In order to save Samira, they find themselves caught between gangsters and neo-Nazis and in the middle of an espionage affair. The highlight is that they dive into Lake Toplitz to find the legendary Nazi treasure – but make a completely different discovery that is no less explosive.

Wild trash story in retrospect
This time, too, the story is fattened up with a high trash factor and is actually even more exaggerated and confused than “Pulled Pork”. It hits so many hooks that it's hard to keep track. But this is partly due to the way it is told, because a film like “The Usual Suspects” was clearly the inspiration: here, in retrospect, a wild story is reconstructed from witness statements, and you can often puzzle together what happened yourself, as jumps in time and omitted details sometimes lead you on the wrong track.

Guest star Fürmann and dispensable pseudo-Greek Niavarani
There's even a well-known guest star when Benno Fürmann appears as a dubious doctor who behaves so snappily as if he himself had invented the German greeting. Luckily, thanks to Michael Rast, one of the most interesting characters from the first part returns and his gangster, known as “Nogger”, is doing profitable business again (after all, he ends up with a full suitcase of money).
Michael Niavarani's reappearance as a Greek innkeeper would have been really dispensable. Just a few weeks ago, Rick Kavanian overtaxed our patience with a fake Greek accent in “The Canoe of Manitu” and there is no reason for the “Simpl” boss to annoy us again with exactly the same Hellas insult. That's what you call bad timing. Not unmentionable as a supporting character is a demented pensioner with a fixation on lasagne and some important numbers in his head. A scene hidden in the credits then shows that he can also take advantage if it's really worth it.

No need for a trilogy
The next attempt to offer comedy-action cinema made in Austria is even more ambitious and (w)here than the previous film. “Neo Nuggets” is certainly impressive with its over-the-top qualities. Most of the work was probably invested (thanks to AI?) in the opening credits, whose satirical 007 look even creates a real blockbuster atmosphere. At the same time, however, one has the impression that Eddi and Flo's story has now been sufficiently exhausted, and although one or two questions remain unanswered, there is no urgent need to work towards a “Pulled Pork” trilogy.
