Middle School Students Will Learn To Play Hockey On In-Line Skates

“Charles Drew and John Muir Middle School students ages 11-15 may participate in a free in-line hockey program sponsored by the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles. The 11-week program runs Sept. 25 to Dec. 6. Participants will be outfitted for free from head to toe. Instructors from Hockey On Wheels Inc. will properly fit youngsters with equipment. The students will learn to play Ballistic Hockey, which is played four on four with no checking allowed and a small goal unprotected by a goalie.

Amateur Athletic Foundation Helped Teens Learn to Play Beach Volleyball Over the Summer

Youth throughout Los Angeles learned to play beach volleyball over the summer, thanks to support from The Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles. The foundation sponsored free beach volleyball instruction to youth ages 11-17 at eight neighborhood parks in Los Angeles. Top beach volleyball professionals gave personalized instruction in setting, spiking, digging and blocking.
The parks were the Algin Sutton Recreation Center, the Bellevue Recreation Center, Montecito Heights Park, Ross Snyder Park in Los Angeles; Normandale Park in Torrance; Valley Plaza Recreation Center in North Hollywood; and Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Recreation Center in Sherman Oaks.”
