The details of a future meeting between US presidents, Donald Trump, and Russia, Vladimir Putin, are not yet resolved, Moscow said in response to questions about an imminent meeting between the two leaders.
The Kremlin said Friday that there was a mutual understanding about the need for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, but that the details of such an encounter had not yet been resolved.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the two parties agreed in the conversations in Riyadh this week – the first to end the war in Ukraine before more formal negotiations – that the two leaders should meet, but “not yet There are specific details. ” He pointed out that both men had said they were willing to speak in person.
“There is a desire for the two presidents, who expressed, and there is also an instruction to prepare this meeting well so that it is as productive as possible. It is during the preparation that all nuances will be discussed,” said Peskov.
Trump said after Tuesday's Saudi meeting that he would probably meet with Putin before the end of the month.
Putin said Wednesday that the meeting needed to be carefully prepared to achieve results.
On Thursday, the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said the meeting between Putin and Trump would depend largely on whether you could advance in the end of the war, and Trump wanted to know if Putin was serious about it.
Peskov reiterated that Putin was open to negotiate a solution to the conflict.
“We have our objectives, related to our national security, to our national interests, and we are willing to achieve them through peace conversations,” he said.
He denied a report from the Financial Times according to which Russia, in the conversations in Saudi Arabia, had demanded the withdrawal of the Eastern Europe Guerra, whose third anniversary is celebrated on Monday.
When asked about that milestone, Peskov said it was too early to summarize the results of what Moscow calls its special military operation.
“The special military operation continues. All the objectives established by the head of state and the commander in supreme chief must be achieved,” he said.
