A United States judge instructed the Government to fully comply with an earlier order that raised the freezing of federal expenditure.
An American judge ordered the Government of Donald Trump on Monday to fully comply with a previous order that withdraws the freezing of federal expenditure, after a group of 23 state -owned Democratic general prosecutors said last week that some funds were still retained.
The United States District Judge John McConnell in Providence, in the state of Rhode Island, ruled that all funds must be restored at least until there is a hearing on the motion of the states for a longer term order.
Trump's government had told the states that he believed that the order did not apply to certain environmental and infrastructure expenses, and that some payments were delayed for “operational and administrative reasons.”
However, McConnell said his order had been “clear and unequivocal” by applying to all frozen funds in response to Trump's decrees.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
The states originally sued the Administration for a memorandum of the Office of Management and Budget of the White House that announced a wide freezing of the federal expenditure. Shortly after the presentation of the demand, the OMB annulled the memorandum.
The states said last week that the still frozen funds included 4.5 billion dollars for a domestic electrification reimbursement, at least part of the 7,000 million dollars for solar panels on roofs, and 5,000 million dollars to support the measures of Greenhouse gas reduction.
