A Fedex plane makes an emergency landing in Newark, New Jersey, after shocking with bird and motor fire. The plane was heading to Indianapolis, said a company spokesman.
A Fedex cargo plane made an emergency landing at a busy New Jersey airport on Saturday after an impact with a bird caused a fire in the engine that could be seen in the morning sky.
The plane landed at Newark Liberty International Airport during the emergency, Lenis Valens, spokesman for the New York Port Authority and New Jersey. No injuries were reported, and the fire on the cargo plane was limited to the engine, Valens added.
The emergency landing caused a brief interruption of air traffic as a precautionary measure, and the operations resumed shortly after, said Valens. The emergency landing occurred shortly after 8 in the morning
A Fedex spokesman said the plane was heading to Indianapolis.
“Our team declared an emergency and returned safely to Newark. We appreciate the rapid actions of our team and rescue bodies, ”said spokesman Austin Kemker.
Emergency landing occurs at a time of greater awareness about flight problems. In the last month, there have been four important aerial disasters in North America.
These include the February 6 accident of a passenger plane in Alaska that killed the 10 people on board and the collision in the air of January 26 between an army helicopter and an American Airlines flight at the National Airport that killed the 67 people aboard the two aircraft.
