Federal Court dictates life imprisonment in the United States against the son of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Nemesio Oseguera, aka “El Mencho”.
The son of the capo of a Mexican drug cartel was sentenced in Washington to life imprisonment by his own leader's role in one of the largest and most violent drug trafficking organizations in the country.
Rubén Oseguera, known as “El Menchito”, is the son of the fugitive head of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), Nemesio Oseguera, aka “El Mencho”.
The son served as second in command of the CJNG cartel before his extradition to the United States in February 2020.
Rubén Oseguera faced a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a mandatory minimum of 40 years in prison when District Federal Judge Beryl Howell sentenced him in Washington. One of the defense lawyers of 35 -year -old Oseguera requested a sentence of 40 years in prison, noting that his client was only 14 when he was recruited to join the drug trafficking operation of his family.
Howell also ordered the confiscation of more than 6,000 million dollars as part of the sentence.
In September, a federal jury condemned Rubén Oseguera for conspiring to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine for transfer to the United States and for using a firearm in a drug operation.
The prosecutors claim that Oseguera ordered the murder of at least 100 people, fired and kill personally at least two and ordered their subordinates to tear down a Mexican military helicopter, killing at least nine people in 2015.
