‘Clueless’ Is The Best Thing on Ch. 7

“This fall season, ABC brings a bunch of new comedies… Molly Ringwald is back! The 80’s pixie is in a new show about two really tight friends, who are waitresses at a diner. One’s a big slut and the other one (played by Molly) is also, to a lesser degree. In the first episode, one of her friends becomes a bride and Molly is to be her bridesmaid. The only problem is that her best friend ends up sleeping with—guess who? By the way, the show’s called “”Townies”” if you’re even interested. It will be on every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m…
Speaking of 80’s stars, Michael J. Fox is also trying to make a comeback. Give the guy credit, at least he tries in “”Spin City.”” Little Mikey plays an assistant to a mayor who is cheap, unattractive, has a girlfriend and loves his job. Expect the same character from “Family Ties” and a late time slot, 9:30 every Tuesday. Take my advice, you shouldn’t stay up past your bedtime for this crummy show, even if Michael does bear his briefs…

However, do stay up for the first few shows of “”Clueless,”” at 9 Friday night. Much like the movie, it is a funny show with the same actors minus Alicia Silverstone. Even without the babe, the show is still enjoyable. Cher falls in love with a substitute teacher, who coincidentally was Balkee from “Perfect Strangers.” She also battles with her dad when he decides to take away her “plastics.” No longer can she go shopping. Her dad makes her work for her money. As the show progresses, you’ll also find that Cher is very much the poetess when she decides to write a poem about her mom’s liposuction-related death for her substitute teacher. She’s trying to impress him. No doubt, the show will impress you too. As if! After all, there are only a few things that you can poke fun at when your topics are limited to cellular phones, Jeeps and credit cards…
If you’re on the conservative side, you might want to catch “”Common Law”” on Saturday nights. Designed for viewers who don’t have social lives, this show is about two lawyers who find that their sex lives are much more interesting after they move in with each other. Have the writers at ABC decided to base the sitcoms on their own lives? Oh, whatever!”
