“To me the biggest turn-off about smoking is knowing how much you’re hurting yourself. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, think about how much you’re hurting other people. Do you know how bad second-hand smoke is? About 400,000 people die yearly from smoking and an additional 50,000 from second-hand smoke.
If you really want to get motived to quit smoking, go rent “Cat’s Eye,” a great movie based on some Stephen King stories. James Woods plays a married man in his mid-thirties who’s heavily addicted to cigarettes. Unfortu-nately the people that help him quit seem to have been trained by the Gestapo. I won’t tell you what happens, but it’s cool.
I realized that in a strange way, the things that happened to those people in the movie were very real because the things that happen and go on around smoking in real life are just as bad.
