“Nobody 2” film criticism: Nobody kills as well as Bob

Bob Odenkirk again invites you to a fun overkill with John-Wick-Vibes and meets a devoted evil Sharon Stone.

Some guys shouldn't go on vacation at all because they take their job with them everywhere. If you also work as a contract killer, it can happen that you still have to kill people on vacation – but without any payment and only to protect your own family. In exactly this situation, Bob Odenkirk can be found as a human all -purpose weapon Hutch Mansell in the (meat) groovy sequel “Nobody 2”.

A holiday destination full of gangsters

After the stressed out of his murder job (he has had to remove one debt and is rushed by one order to the next) to seek a holiday resort with Ms. Becca (Connie Nielsen), the two children and father David (Christopher Lloyd), which he has from youth days in sentimental memory, the problems are not long in coming. Hutch comes up with a criminal organization that is in charge in the apparently harmless amusement park and is led by Sharon Stone. There is no reason to be surprised that the corrupt sheriff looks like a young Tom Hanks, because it is actually his son Colin.

Imaginative permanent fights

And so we get exactly what we all waited for: Odenkirk tirelessly mills his way through the ranks of the opponents as a slower berserker and adapts perfectly to the conditions of the most diverse locations. Whether entertainment boat, elevator cabin or mirror cabinet – he always has the right weapons at hand and divides so violently that blood and tissue parts spray around or fly your teeth through the area. However, he himself also collects enough injuries and even leaves a small part of himself forever.

Fiery memories of part 1

The film full of dark humor and painful violence is also a lesson in terms of de -escalation: Here it is shown how you should not do it. The script again contributed “John Wick” creator Derek Kolstad, as director, the Indonesian Timo Tjahjanto gave his US debut after he has already proven himself in his homeland through contributions to the hard action genre. Several motifs from the first film have been resumed: for example, you have to be prepared for a burning money mountain and for the showdown Hutch and his friends move back into a real battle.

Sharon Stone turns up properly

The real highlight is of course Sharon Stone. After a long break, she can finally be really angry again and therefore takes up a tradition that was founded by “Basic Instinct”, “Total Recall” and “Catwoman”. Although it is only used very economically, it knows how to get the outermost out of the role of a crazy gangster boss. As a dog lover and human being, she treats herself a short dance before going to the big slaughter and becomes dangerous with long nails and pointed weapons even a professional like Hutch. Now you might think that nobody is finishing Sharon Stone, but in a film with the title “Nobody”, such a saying may mean the opposite.

Action against heart attack?

Usually you always look with the main character in such a work, but in this case you are more concerned about Bob Odenkirk. Finally, in 2021 he suffered a slight heart attack during the shooting of “Better Call Saul” and now takes on a physically demanding role at over 60. Or should a doctor “Nobody 2” even recommended him as a fitness program to prevent heart attack? If this was the case, the Council seems to have really proven itself and it can continue the series because it is obviously with great pleasure and combative skills. In a possible third part, Connie Nielsen will probably not only help as a wife, but as an equivalent working partner.
