“Mission: Impossible 8” film criticism: Ethan is to blame for everything

Handmade action cinema of the spectacular nature offers this eighth and undoubtedly the last part of the long-lasting agent series.

That doesn't look good for Ethan Hunt: in the trailer for “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning “is created by a kind of best-of the previous parts, the title itself also suggests a definitive finale, and the film poster shows its face in black and white, which immediately feels reminded of an obituary. So Tom Cruise really has to say goodbye to a role that he has not faithfully remained for over three decades? Stunts can still complete himself – and this time there is more than enough.

All in all, the previous part came quite lame and had hardly any highlights to offer, apart from the breathtaking finale on board the slowly crashing train. This time, however, the production was not slowed down by no pandemic, but was able to draw from the full, which you can see and notify the film and noticed the almost three -hour term. This is intended in large dimensions – so the first half hour goes by before the opening credits can start.

The big whole – relationships everywhere

Director and screenwriter Christopher McQuarria practically leaves practically nothing untried to make cross -connections to all previous parts. Since figures appear that you know from the past or who are at least related to the deceased, one of the former missions turns out to be a direct history of the powerful AI called “Entität” – and as a special punch line, Hunt suddenly stands there as the unwanted full -civilized one: Without him, the current threat would not have existed. In order to span a large arc here, the film bombs us with countless mini-reversal. Of course, this should help the memory, but can also easily create the side effect to fall annoying. Fortunately, the determined action then compensates for such braking retro moments or a few pathetic high-ranking speeches.

Atomic annihilation threatens

At the end of “Dead Reckoning”, Hunt finally came into the possession of the hotly fought key, which serves to paralyze the ownity. Until he can put him in the corresponding castle, we have passed a full two years (while it was just a few weeks in the film world). The entity has increasingly gained power and is in the process of preparing a nuclear extermination – but perhaps the third world war breaks out due to human action before the big bang. Ober villain Gabriel (Esai Morales) also wants to gain total control using the AI, and then to make matters worse there is a doomsday sect, the members of which have introduced themselves into the highest position and want to ensure that the entity actually conjures up the latest court. The chances of survival of mankind are not high – and of course everything is due to Hunt and his team to avert the mischief.

Gymnastics under extreme conditions

Hun's disguise skills are not in high demand this time, but he does gymnastics under difficult conditions almost non -stop. On board a sunken submarine that turns into a rotation, the agent threatens to be crushed by nuclear warheads and high above Africa it hangs in the linkage of a biplane or on its wings. The main carpenters are not only the bottom of the sea and the sky, but also a bunker in the world.

When McQuarria represents the missions so detailed and the figures confronted with an insurmountable difficulty after the other, this makes us fever in a breathless tension. The excess length is therefore not a disadvantage and it does not bothers that the basic requirements are never varied: Ethan is always on the road alone and his team provides important help from a distance. However, all of them must always fight for life, regardless of whether they are attacking armed to the teeth, or threatens to go up a giant bomb.

So did Tom Cruise really have a bond end à la Craig written on the body? I don't want to reveal that here. Only one thing is clear: because of boredom nobody will bless the time.
