Hepcat is a swank ska band with original style and true to its two-tone roots. Two-tone ska is a reggae/ soul/jazz/mellow but up-beat tone to them. Also you have to understand that there are different waves of ska: two-tone, 1st wave, 2nd wave, and 3rd wave. Bands like Reel Big Fish, Buck-o-nine, Aquabats, and Save Ferris are more along the lines of 1st and 2nd wave ska because they have the horns and the up-beat sound. But they have more of a rock feel to their music. Bands like Rancid and Unwritten Law are 3rd wave ska because even though they sound more punk at times, they still have a ska sound to them. And just for the record, for those of you who think No Doubt is ska, I have a massive news flash for you: NO DOUBT IS NOT SKA!! So stop saying they are!
