“So it’s Saturday night and you have nothing to do. Well, don’t panic! This is L.A., the city that never sleeps. There’s always something to do. Here’s a suggestion: Universal Citywalk. Where else can you shop, eat, and play all at the same time?
First stop: The Marvel Mania Restaurant, which just opened in February, is worth a visit. Inside, the walls are decorated with Spider-Man, Captain America, the X-Men, The Incredible Hulk and others. They have a big screen that flashes Marvel comic animations and the booth cushions are all hooked up to vibrate in time with the animations. They have weird foods such as Mutant Chicken Wings and Doc Ock’s Wok.
The Universal Studio Store offers, music, videos and other Universal merchandise that normally would be found within the theme park. It’s great if you’re into movies.
Then head over to Things From Another World to check out the wide selection of comics, toys and other science fiction memorabilia. Anything sci-fi and they’re sure to have it.
At the All Star Collectibles you can find anything to do with sports, especially basketball and football, from jerseys to autographs.
Satisfy your sweet tooth at P.T. Copperpott, a unique candy shop, which specializes in assortments of chocolate delicacies.
Further down Citywalk is the Wizardz Wonders store, filled with all kinds of magic from simple card tricks to disappearing rabbit tricks. Sometimes visiting magicians will show you a trick or two.
Then there are the other restaurants: Mexican food at Camacho’s Cantina, fine dining at Gladstone’s, or rock and roll at the Hard Rock Cafe. Okay, so maybe these places are too classy to pig out with friends. No problem, Citywalk has it covered. At Jody Maroni’s Sausage Kingdom, get their famous sausage sandwich, fries and drink for a sensible price. The Lighthouse Beach has all-American burgers.
The Cineplex has 18 screens
Citywalk’s Cineplex Odeon has 18 screens. It’s $8 for adults, but only $4.75 for all shows before 6 p.m. Parking is free with the purchase of two tickets.
Right next to the Cineplex is the Cinemax Imaginator theater. Here you can enjoy a high-paced ride on a virtual ride simulator that will have you screaming in your seat: Devil’s Mine Ride, Storm Rider and Alpine Express. Admission is $5 a person, $3 for additional rides.
For all these reasons and more, Citywalk is the place to go. Parking is $6 for unlimited time. For general info call (818) 622-4455 (press 2 for directions). For parking information call (818) 622-9841.”
