“Girls Town” A wonderful film about a group of four friends and how they cope with a suicide. Rated R.

“Kids” The amazing writing of Harmony Korine and an outstanding ensemble cast of child-like actors make this movie about New York teens a must-see. Rated NC-17.

“Secrets and Lies” The story of a black woman’s search for her biological mother. Rated R.

“Flirting With Disaster” This movie has to be the funniest of 1996. Rated R

“The Daytrippers” Already being compared to David O. Russell’s “Flirting with Disaster.” This movie is about a Long Island housewife who suspects her husband for cheating on her, so she packs her family into the station wagon and leaves.

“Fargo” Frances McDormand was awarded Best Actress this year for her portrayal of pregnant officer Marge Gunderson in this dark but humorous movie. Rated R.

“Chungking Express” (foreign) The story of two cops and their struggles with women. Rated PG-13
