“If you like hockey, keep an eye on the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The team missed the playoffs last year by one win when they tied the Winnipeg Jets (now in Phoenix) with points but had a lower number of wins. The Ducks are going to make sure that doesn’t happen again this year.
Anaheim was very active during the summer as they signed former King and future Hall-of-Famer Jari Kurri, 36, to a one-year contract. One of the league’s top enforcers, Warren Rychel, agreed to a three-year contract. Rychel and Kurri joined Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, and Guy Hebert as the Ducks will field their finest team in the franchise’s short history in the NHL.
Paul Kariya enjoyed his first 50 goal/100 point seasons in the NHL. Think of him as the Next One: he’ll be one of the most dominating scorers for years to come.
Teemu Selanne is a proven goal scorer with a NHL record 76 goals in his rookie season. He has since averaged over 40 goals and 85 points a year.
The Ducks will be led by Jari Kurri, one of the best two-way players in hockey today. His career totals are: 583 goals and 758 assists for a total of 1,341 points. The three of them (Kariya, Selanne and Kurri) should form one of the most lethal lines in hockey.
The Ducks may be second or third in the league this year.”
