Mellow out in the tub, take a nap—or both!
Teens describe what helps them get relief from stress – taking a bath.
“Usually when I’m stressed out, I either have so much homework that I don’t know where to begin, or I have things to do and the day isn’t long enough to finish. Everything I do is rushed. Sometimes I’ll stay up till one or two o’clock in the morning and wake up early at 5:30 a.m. Obviously, I don’t get enough sleep.
Other times, I finish everything on time. But I’m exhausted, so to relax, I treat myself to a bath and a nap. I recommend to take a shower first, then a bath.
I add special bath salts, bath beads or bubbles that release stress. Try Pier One Stress Release, Cabot Vitamin E Raspberry or Herbal. The Raspberry kind takes tension away and the Herbal one relaxes tired muscles.
When I’m in the tub, I listen to music on the radio or read. I also love to take a nap in the tub in case I’m not able to take a nap after I bathe.
After my bath, I feel I have been resting all day, like I haven’t felt stressed at all. The warm water and the aroma of the bath salts, etc. have relaxed my muscles. I also don’t feel the anxiety I felt before, accumulated in my chest. I feel refreshed and I’m able to handle my work with patience, if I have any. If not, I just go to sleep. When I wake up, I’m rested and ready to get to work.
