“Thanks for helping teens!
Dear Editor:

Thank you for publishing a newspaper full of details to help and encourage teens to succeed in life by helping them with advice to help them with their problems. Being a teen is not very easy. The world is full of chances and choices and we are the ones that have to say yes to the chances and pick our own path into life. I would like for you to tell teens that it is okay to make mistakes because mistakes are what makes us learn but, when we do make mistakes we have to solve them and speak out.

LA Youth is not as boring as I thought
Dear Editor:

I like all the articles you bring us in your paper every month. At first when my teacher gave me one to read I thought it was going to be boring reading it, but I was wrong. LA Youth is very interesting to read. Keep bringing out more informative stuff so that the students can keep on top of things.

Change the cover
Dear Editor:

I think you should change the set-up to grab the attention of teens. Maybe on the cover of LA Youth you could get a tagger or a ex-tagger to do it for you. Your paper is good, don’t change! It shows the good side of teens, not the vandalizing side. This is not from a pro, but a teen in the hood.

I’m 14, but I want to work
Dear Editor:

I think your article “Looking for Work” is very true. I want to work, but I’m only 14. I guess somewhere there has to be a job for me, but I don’t know where to find it. But I’m not going to give up, at least not now.

Journalists are powerful
Dear Editor:

As a retired teacher of history, government and U.S. citizenship in the L.A. schools, I’ve appreciated your newspaper.
I always told (asked) students: “”Who are the most important people in any country?”” The newspaper reporters and writers, of course, was the answer. My adult students from Central American and Asia understood this perfectly.

Teens need to know about safe sex
Dear Editor:

I think your article, “The Cool Way to Learn About Safe Sex” was great because what the article is saying is true. Teenagers right now are having problems with sex. They don’t know how to have sex the right way. They don’t know how to protect themselves. What if I get AIDS? Well that’s what teenagers right now are thinking about. This article tells everybody how to protect themselves and how to have a good relationship with someone. It helped me know how to protect myself. I learned how to use a condom and how to have sex the safe way. Rigoberto Arnujo, Locke High School”
