LA Youth Political Survey

“In the last issue of LA Youth, we ran a survey asking about our readers’ attitudes toward government and politics. Based on a similar study by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, our survey found that less than a third of teens who responded trust the government – about the same as the adults in the Pew study. But more teens than adults said they plan to vote in every election and feel they have a say about what government does.
Our survey got 103 responses. The average age of respondents is 16. About 69 percent are female and 31 percent are male.
We also asked readers to write in answers to questions about what their hopes and fears were for their future and that of the country. Most readers were concerned about getting a good job and staying safe in an increasingly violent world. Here are some responses:

My wishes and hopes for the future:

“I want to be guaranteed affordable living costs and affordable tuition for my child’s college fund.”
