Check out the new Diamond Club

“There’s a new Hollywood nightclub on the scene, if you like to dance and have the opportunity to go clubbing.
The Diamond Club, the newest creation of promoters Freak Daddy and Rev It Up, happens every Friday from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the World. The club has two rooms, one for hip hop and one for disco. I recommend the hip hop room which features DJ Cool Whip from Billboard Live, partly for the music, and partly because the younger people are there.
Two days before I went, Rev It Up told me he didn’t expect it to heat up until about midnight. But the place was packed at 11. People were still coming in when I left at 1 a.m. Rev told me they were doing very well; about 1000 people turned out.
At this 18 and over club, the average age seemed to be about 19 to 22. There are enough fine girls and guys to go around. Unlike some clubs, where guys greet girls by grabbing them, the guys here are friendly; they introduce themselves and actually talk to you. It’s easy to find a dance partner and get out on the floor because the music is loud and good.
The cover is $10, plus $5 for parking, plus $3 to check your coat and bags plus drinks. I suggest you leave bags or purses at home and tuck your ID and money in a pocket. Have your ID ready at the door, or, if you forgot it, make sure the other people in your party have theirs, or you won’t get in. (You will get carded!)
Dress comfortably. Many girls have the misconception that if they dress slutty, they’re more likely to get into a club. It’s okay to do that, as long as you can still dance. Why go to a club if you can barely move in your five-inch-heel thigh-high boots?
The Diamond Club is 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays at the World at 7070 Hollywood Blvd., one block east of La Brea, (310) 226-8421.”
