“If you like rap music, you’ll enjoy the soundtrack to the new movie “Caught Up,” with Bokeem Woodbine, whom you may recognize from the film “Jason’s Lyric.” “Caught Up” is about a former gang member who wants to turn straight, but he finds that breaking the ties to the gang is not easy; he’s caught up.
The soundtrack, which features songs by Snoop Doggy Dogg, Mack 10, Daz Dillinger and Luniz, follows the plot of the movie. There are three interludes which contain dialogue from the film and they separate the different parts of the plot.
The soundtrack starts out well, with an introduction which transitions straight into “Ride On/Caught Up” by Snoop Doggy Dogg and Kurupt, a current hit on Power 106 and The Beat. The steady flow of good, danceable music continues with “Work” by Gang Starr and “U Should Know Me” by Joe. The rest of the album is less consistent, with the other ten tracks either being very good or just average. The album contains another hit single, “My Buddy” by Luniz featuring Daz and Kurupt. But the best songs came from lesser known artists such as O, with his song “Made Man,” and Do or Die featuring Danny Boy and Johnny P with “Allin the Club.”
I really enjoyed the album and would re-commend buying it.”
