“1. Draw lots of things, said Ruben Gerard. Go to the library, they have a lot of books on how to draw just about everything. You can’t find success by just drawing muscle guys. A super hero needs to do a lot more than just stand there looking tough. You have to include buildings and other surroundings. You have to be able to draw all kinds of things.
2. Do your own thing. Use your creative abilities, your imagination. Remember, sometimes the popular things get unpopular and people get tired of them. Use your imagination, create something new.
3. Figure out what you’re interested in. If you find yourself drawing the same style over and over, go towards that style. Don’t force yourself to go a different direction just because it’s popular. If you like comics, do comic books.”
