L.A. Youth dedicates this sports issue to Harry Usher, who served on the L.A. Youth Board from 1996 to 2000. His contributions to the world of sports reflected a profound belief in the power of the human spirit.

Usher helped plan the 1984 Olympic Games, one of the most successful games in modern Olympic history. When the Games were over, Usher helped transfer the remaining assets to the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, which continues to be the prime supporter of youth sports programs in Los Angeles.

Usher led by example as a father and husband, as an attorney, as a corporate executive, and in his civic duties to L.A. Youth, the Constitutional Rights Foundation, Kids in Sports and many other organizations.
