As a food enthusiast, I am always interested in trying new restaurants and foods. Thankfully Los Angeles has tons of great restaurants, cafes, grills and the like. Haus is a mod-ish looking café on the corner of 6th and Serrano in Koreatown that caught my eye. I watched its transformation from an auto shop, to a frozen yogurt café (Yogurt Queen by Haus), to the new stylish café.

Haus has delicious entrees, teas, coffees and desserts. For lunch, I ordered a hearty seafood spaghetti (about $16) and passion fruit tea (about $4). Another great thing about this trendy café is the portions: they really do match up to the prices.

Usually the seafood spaghetti dishes I have tried are dry because the shrimp and scallops absorb all the liquid from the sauce. However, Haus’ version of this pasta is phenomenal; it’s saucy, juicy, and garlicky—all the elements a great pasta dish has. Not to mention, the tinge of basil keeps it fresh.

The passion fruit tea is one of the best I have tried (and I have tried many). It’s perfectly bittersweet with a delicious berry aroma. They served it to me in a see-through teapot with a bunch of tea leaves and fruit in the drain, which added to the modern aesthetic of the restaurant. For $4, this pot of dark pink tea was definitely a good pick.

What stood out to me about this café was the ambience. I personally like clean eateries with a lot of unique style. The restaurant has a patio for smokers, but I wouldn’t recommend sitting outside because of the noisy street. Inside there is a refrigerated display that holds several pastries and cakes. The dining area holds a row of couches with tables in addition to booths. The couches and booths have been covered with a gorgeous floral material, creating a sophisticated atmosphere.

If you’re a tea or coffee fiend (or both), I suggest visiting Haus. I loved the café atmosphere, the friendly waiters, the fast service and most of all, the food.
