Low cost dental services for teens


Need a dentist? Not all these dental services are available at all agencies, so call the facilities below to find out whether your needs can be served, when the clinic is open and what you need to bring. Call Info Line of Los Angeles at 1 (800) 339-6993 for more information on dental services in your area. Many clinics require students to bring proof of their address and their parents’ income. At some clinics, a parent must accompany the student. Most clinics charge low fees; a few are free.

HOLLYWOOD and CENTRAL LOS ANGELES
The Los Angeles Free Clinic

     Offers X-rays, exams, cleanings, fluoride, fillings, extractions, root canals for youth only. No crowns or braces. Bring a parent or guardian. If emancipated, bring proof of emancipation. MediCal or uninsured.

     Offers cleanings, fillings, extractions, crowns, some root canals. No braces. If students have no insurance, they’ll be charged $25 for the first visit, $45 for subsequent visits, and $90 for complicated procedures. The student must be attending a school in the Los Angeles Unified School District, and must bring a consent form with the student’s name, school name and address, signed by the school nurse.

     Full-range dental services, from cleanings to braces. Care is provided by student dentists supervised by faculty from the USC School of Dentistry. Low fees, Medi-Cal accepted. Initial exam and x-rays, $80. No appointment needed for first visit, but call to find out the hours the clinic is open. Bring a parent or guardian.

SOUTH CENTRAL LOS ANGELES (including Watts and Inglewood)

     Services for low-income families include dental care. Spanish spoken. Cost: free; $5 donation encouraged. Serves only people who live in Pacoima, Arleta, North Hills, Mission Hills, San Fernando, Sylmar and Lake View Terrace. Bring an ID and proof of address.
