Join the Teen Staff
To join the staff, you must be a teen (ages 13-18) living in Los Angeles County. Call (323) 938-9194 and come to the next Newcomers Day, Saturday, October 2, 2010. Newcomer’s Day begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until noon. Please try to arrive five minutes early so we can start promptly at 11 a.m.
Come meet other teens like yourself who are interested in writing, photography and illustration for L.A. Youth, the newspaper by and about teens. No writing or journalism experience required. You should be committed to attending at least two meetings a month and writing about the issues and ideas that matter to you. This is NOT a paid position. Students involved with L.A. Youth are volunteers in an extra-curricular writing and journalism program.
Have your questions answered by the adult editors. Feel free to come with your story or drawing ideas (though you’re not required to have any ideas) and to bring a friend to L.A. Youth at 5967 W. Third St., Suite 301, Los Angeles CA 90036.
Once you have attended Newcomer’s Day we consider you to have joined the staff and can immediately start writing and attending meetings.
You will be invited to stay for the regular staff meeting, which begins at 1 p.m. Call (323) 938-9194 for more information or e-mail editor(at)layouth(dot)com.
