I went to jj bakery & cafe yesterday, and the jasmine tea wasn't free. The tea comes with a lunch combo order or something. But the food was good. I got goose noodle soup w/ vegetables on the side. For dessert, I got honey lemonade and garlic toast. The toast was really big.

The thing about marriage is that it's a religious tradition. It was created by religion, and it's a religious metaphor for the union between Jesus (the bridegroom) and the Church (the bride). Plus, you might notice that weddings tend to include churches and pastors. For these reasons, it irritates me when people are offended by the fact that people use religious reasons in their arguments against gay marriage. Of course they think about it from a religious standpoint; it's a religious event!

So, what about the legal benefits that Dario Guerrero mentioned? I agree, certain groups shouldn't be denied the legal perks of marriage. But, think about it. Fundamentally, marriage is about religion; it's about the church. So, why does it even HAVE legal benefits? What ever happened to separation of church and state?

Really, I think that if we want to solve this debate, all we need to do is separate the two, and leave the decision of gay marriage up to the pastors who conduct the ceremonies. A working example would be civil union. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_union) Civil union basically creates a separate version of marriage for same-sex couples that provides all the legal benefits. That way we're not cheating people out of the legalities, and the church folks are happy.

The majority's vote should be taken into consideration. But also consider this. If we had voted on whether or not to have interracial marriage in the 50s the majority would have voted against it. If we had voted on whether or not to allow blacks into public schools in the 60s the majority would have voted against it.

The Constitution and state laws are not synonymous. Bans on rights have no place in the Constitution; the use of the our state and national constitutions to protect rights is what has always distinguished the U.S., and the abuse of them has only born our nation shame in retrospect.

I get what Stephany's saying in this, but the Confederates had to go through a WAR to get rid of slavery. In no way, shape, or form is not allowing same-sex marriage as bad as slavery.

The phrase "What is popular is not always right and what is right is not always popular" can go for Capital Punishment and Abortion as well. Why not go against the majority vote of those two things also?!?

Also, just because gays follow the law, pay their taxes, and protect our country through military service, doesn't mean that the people for Prop 8 don't. Shouldn't the majority's vote be taken into consideration?!? What happened to our democratic system of voting??? Are we throwing it away that quickly??

I'm so glad that you noticed our generations horrible sex-like dancing. It's ridculous. Ya know what, I think we should all go back to "lame" moves like the Running Man and the Electric Slide, at least people in the 80s didn't go all of a sudden wake up in bed after a night in the club and wonder who the dude next to her in bed was.

Dancing these days is ridculous.
I say everyone should do the funky chicken!
