Education needed: Work experience plus a bachelor’s degree or higher
Duties: Top and middle managers with diverse duties and responsibilities which may include generating new business, working with clients, setting policy and making tough decisions such as when to lay people off.
Sales agents for selected business services
Education needed: Moderate-term on-the-job training
Duties: Sell selected services, such as building maintenance, credit reporting, bookkeeping, security, printing, and storage space, to businesses. Excluded are advertising, insurance, financial, and real estate sales agents.
Accountants and auditors
Education needed: Bachelor’s degree or higher
Duties: Accountants and auditors prepare, analyze and verify financial reports crucial to all business and government organizations for sound financial planning. Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) must pass a series of exams and be licensed by the State Board of Accountancy to earn the title “CPA.”
Marketing, advertising, public relations work
Education needed: Work experience plus a bachelor’s degree or higher
Duties: They formulate marketing policies, direct sales activities, and organize advertising and public relations activities for a department, an entire organization or on an account basis.
Financial managers
Education needed: Work experience plus a bachelor’s degree or higher
Duties: They coordinate the financial activities of an organization, which may include handling bills, preparing budgets and reports, helping control costs, overseeing investments and negotiating with vendors and clients.
