"Now that’s comedy!" I thought to myself after seeing Blue Streak. For the first time in a long time I laughed as hard as when I saw Dumb and Dumber. Blue Streak is guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles.

The movie is an action-comedy starring comedian Martin Lawrence as jewel thief Miles Logan. During a heist gone wrong, Logan hides a diamond in the airshaft of a construction site. After getting out of prison, Logan comes to find out the construction site is now LAPD Headquarters. After a hilarious attempt to sneak into the police department as a buck-toothed, crazy-haired pizza delivery man, Logan decides to go in impersonating a cop. With a little help from friends he transforms himself into the fast talking, smooth detective Malone. He gets paired with a rookie named Carlson (Luke Wilson). Surprising even himself, Logan is actually good at being a cop because his savvy criminal mind helps him crack cases with ease.

There is never a dull moment in this movie. To the writers of the script, my hat is off to you. The street lingo mixes perfectly with each scene. Malone constantly uses phrases like "You got to get all up on dat!" "Sucka!" and "Oh, it’s like that?!" The great physical comedy also keeps the laughs coming. My favorite scene shows Malone interrogating a witness at headquarters. He smashes the man’s face onto the glass wall and ends up squeezing him between a door and another wall. Needless to say the man’s pain brings chuckles.

Even though Lawrence and Wilson’s performances are noteworthy, actor/comedian Dave Chappelle’s ignorant character steals a lot of the scenes. Its tough for me to say who was funnier, Chappelle or Lawrence.

I do have to warn you, the music is disappointing. Sorry Wherehouse, you won’t be ringing up too many purchases of Blue Streak’s soundtrack. I was irritated by unknown groups performing boring material and techno beats following every other scene. However, I did find my head bopping to Jay-Z‘s "Girls Best Friend."
Don’t let the soundtrack fool you. Blue Streak is a great movie. You’ll laugh your head off and see a couple of action-packed moments. If you don’t believe me, don’t take my word for it. Take Logan’s: "Believe dat!"
