With only four full-time adult staff, we keep busy with all aspects of managing our organization and often have to work a little extra to get everything done. Our editorial staff work one-on-one with students on articles, assign and follow up on photo and art assignments, work with a graphic designer to produce the newspaper, maintain the archives, communicate daily with the teen staff, run weekly youth meetings, teach a summer writing workshop, take students to interviews, write recommendations for students, coordinate interviews with other media and maintain this website and our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

To raise money, we meet with and write proposals to funders, report to funders, and work closely with our board through meetings, telephone and email correspondence. As part of responsible non-profit management, we must receive and deposit checks, order supplies, keep organized books and records, pay our suppliers, keep our office space organized and functional, request donations, track the more than 1,000 teachers and non-profit workers on our distribution list, reach out to new subscribers and organize special events.
